Tethered is a four-person exhibition that examines how artistic communities form—through conversation, mentorship, admiration, and tension. For this exhibition, one artist was invited to choose another, who then invited another, creating a chain of connection that shaped both the group and the work on view.

Featuring Johannah Herr, Steph Zimmerman, CJ Matherne, and Eric Ehrnschwender, Tethered foregrounds relationships as a curatorial method—revealing how ideas move between artists and how creative practices are shaped by shared histories and lived proximity.

Together, the works trace both visible and invisible bonds, offering a portrait of artistic exchange as something built collectively, over time.

Join the artists of Tethered—Johannah Herr, Steph Zimmerman, CJ Matherne, and Eric Ehrnschwender—for an intimate conversation about connection, influence, and artistic lineage. Moderated by curator, Tara Foley.

The artists will discuss the chain-invitation process behind the exhibition, how their relationships shaped the work on view, and the role of dialogue, mentorship, and tension in sustaining creative communities. The talk offers a deeper look into how ideas move between artists—and how those tethers shape both individual practice and collective meaning.

Conversation followed by informal mingling.
