Working in the artists' vocabulary of souvenir matchbooks and felt, INVADING SPACES explores questions of signifiers and boundaries. How is space defined and by whom? When does presence become intrusion?

At a distance, the artworks' patterns suggest nostalgic, fun and familiar patterns; up close, however, the pixels (matchbooks) reveal the victims of those unjustly killed by law enforcement.

INVADING SPACES does not fix these questions in place. Instead, it offers a field where meanings shift depending on where you stand—inviting viewers to look closely, and to consider how space, power, and belonging are constructed, controlled, and communicate.
