A marriage falls apart. So does the country. What is worth repair? Feels familiar.

After last month's Book Talk with Kurt Andersen himself, we're diving into his latest novel for October's book club. The Breakup imagines America split in two after a 2030s civil war — and follows one couple touring colleges with their kid through the wreckage, trying to figure out if their marriage (and maybe the nation) is worth saving.

It's messy, funny, unsettling, and honestly kind of close to home. We wanted to bring it to Creative Legion because it's really a book about repair — what we choose to rebuild, reinvent, or let go of when something breaks. That's not so different from what artists and makers do every day: taking what's fractured or unfinished and making something new out of it. Feels like the right conversation to have in a room full of creatives.
