Play With Lou, Why Don't You?! Poetry Salon

In honor of the one hundredth anniversary of Dorothy Parker’s first publication in the New Yorker (this is a lie but please go with it) we are presenting not only a poetry salon, but a poetry saloon. How is that possible? First, we will read approximately twenty of her poems aloud. We will discuss her style, mechanics, haunting humor and rhyme scheme. Then, with courage, conviction and a contemporary eye, we will write our own poems a la Parker. Satirical, cutting, timely. The workshop with culminate in a reading around CL’s mahogany, rectangular table.

Poetry and pinot noir, anyone?
